Ingredients

2 c
milk (whole milk works best)
1/4 c
butter
2/3 c
sugar (white or brown)
3
eggs
2 tsp
cinnamon
1/4 tsp
ground nutmeg
1 tsp
vanilla
3 c
bread (french bread works best)
1/2 c
raisins

How to Make Bread Pudding

Step-by-Step

  • 1In medium saucepan over medium heat, heat milk just until film forms over top. Add butter and stir until butter is melted. Cool to lukewarm.
  • 2Combine sugar, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla in large bowl. Beat with electric mixer at medium speed for 1 minute. Slowly add milk mixture and mix.
  • 3Tear bread into small pieces. Place bread in lightly greased 1 1/2 quart casserole dish.
  • 4Sprinkle with raisins, then pour batter on top of bread.
  • 5Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes or until set. Serve warm.
