I have a couple of tart crusts that I use. This one is on the sweet side, and I use it a lot for things like fruit tarts, or other sweet items. It is easy to put together, and once baked you can choose to fill it with whatever you choose. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

Ingredients For sweet essentials: fillable almond tart crust

  • PLAN/PURCHASE
  • 1/2 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 c
    almond flour
  • 3 Tbsp
    coconut sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt, kosher variety, fine grind
  • 8 Tbsp
    sweet butter, unsalted, cut into cubes and cold
  • 2 lg
    egg yolks, whipped with a few drops of water

    You will need a tart, or ovenproof pie pan to make this recipe.

    Gather your ingredients (mise en place).
  • 4
    Place a rack in the middle position and preheat the oven to 350f/175c.
  • 5
    Place the dry ingredients into a food processor fitted with an S-blade, then toss in the cold cubed butter.

    Use 1-second pulses until the butter is incorporated into the ingredients, as pea-sized pieces of butter.

    Add the egg yolks, and then knead with your hands until it comes together. You should have a slightly sticky dough with visible bits of butter.

    Generously butter a tart or pie pan.

    Roll the dough out.

    Fit it into the pan.

    Dock the dough and place into the preheated oven.
