sugar cream pie
Growing up in Indiana everyone had their own version of sugar cream pie. My favorite is still from Mrs. Wicks. But my version is very good too! When I moved to New York I was surprised that no one knew what a sugar cream pie was!

Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups half and half
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/3 cup corn starch
- 1 stick salted butter, cut into chunks
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh grated nutmeg
- 1 - prebaked pie crust
How To Make sugar cream pie

Step 1Preheat oven to 375°F. In a sauce pot whisk together the sugar and corn starch. Whisk in the half and half.

Step 2Cook over medium heat whisking nonstop until it is bubbling and thickened. Remove from heat.

Step 3Whisk in butter until melted and fully mixed in. Then stir in vanilla.

Step 4Pour in to prebaked pie crust. Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg evenly over top.

Step 5Bake in a preheated oven of 375° for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and cool to room temperature. Cover and place in fridge overnight. Enjoy!
