southern buttermilk pie

This is a very simple recipe and so quick and easy when you need a fast dessert in a pinch. You could use ready-made pie crusts or make your own. I use my fool-proof pie crust recipe and it works great This recipe makes a very rich and delicious pie. I think if you added a little nutmeg to this recipe, it would just set it off. Ingredients

  • 1 9" pie crust, uncooked
  • 1 cup whole buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs, unbeaten
  • 1/2 cup melted butter cooled to room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

How To Make southern buttermilk pie

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees and set uncooked pie crust aside.
  • Step 2
    Place all ingredients in a blender, Ninja, Vitamix or other food processor. Start on low and increase to medium and blend until smooth.
  • Step 3
    Pour into the unbaked pie crust and bake for 40 minutes. Start checking it at 30 minutes. When a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the center, it's done.
