I got this recipe from a good friend that was a pie baker, unfortunately she pass away, I always think of her when I make this pie, the reason I call it From the Dark side is because every time she made it I would say it looks like something from the dark side , she would always laugh.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups rasins
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1/2 - orange juice, fresh
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest, grated
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • - crust for 2 crust pie

How To Make recipe from the dark side raisin pie

  • Step 1
    Put raisins in a colander pour boiling water over saving water. you should have 1 1/3 cups of water saved.
  • Step 2
    In a large bowl add brown sugar, corn starch, orange zest, lemon zest, stir together. Add orange juice, lemon juice and the 1 13 cup of saved water. Mix all together.
  • Step 3
    Pour over raisins add nuts and mix well, pour into bottom pie crust dot with 1 tablespoon butter, cover with top crust, cut vents, flute edges, sprinkle with a little sugar.
  • Step 4
    Bake in 375 degree oven about 45 minutes.
