My family loves sweets and this is a very basic recipe that can be adapted for different things such as a vanilla pudding (omit pineapple). For example I use this for banana puddings.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 large eggs, separated
  • 1 can crushed pineapple (drained)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons butter

How To Make pineapple cream pie

  • Step 1
    Mix sugar & cornstarch in heavy saucepan
  • Step 2
    Add milk & mix well. Cook on med heat until bubbly. Cook for 2 min. Stir constantly.
  • Step 3
    Remove from heat & temper egg yolks. Add to mixture & cook for another 2 min stirring constantly.
  • Step 4
    Remove from heat. Add vanilla & butter. Add drained pineapple.
  • Step 5
    Pour into baked 9" pie crust & top with meringue.
