My daughter always requested I make this for her birthday instead of cake. I've shared this recipe with family and friends who say it is the best they've had.

  • 4 large
  • 1 scant c
  • 1 c
    dark karo syrup
  • 1 dash(es)
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter or margarine, melted (not made with corn oil)
  • 9"
    unbaked pie shell
  • 1 scant c
    pecan pieces

How to Make Pecan Pie


  1. Pour the pecan pieces in the bottom of the unbaked pie shell.
  2. Whisk together the eggs and sugar in a 2 qt. or larger mixing bowl. Whisk in the remaining ingredients and mix well.
  3. Pour the mixture over the pecans (don't worry, they will rise to the top)and bake in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for approximately 50 min. or until the center is beginning to puff and has only a slight wiggle to it.
  4. Cool completely before cutting.
