My daughter always requested I make this for her birthday instead of cake. I've shared this recipe with family and friends who say it is the best they've had.

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 scant cup sugar
  • 1 cup dark karo syrup
  • 1 dash salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted (not made with corn oil)
  • 9" - unbaked pie shell
  • 1 scant cup pecan pieces

How To Make pecan pie

  • Step 1
    Pour the pecan pieces in the bottom of the unbaked pie shell.
  • Step 2
    Whisk together the eggs and sugar in a 2 qt. or larger mixing bowl. Whisk in the remaining ingredients and mix well.
  • Step 3
    Pour the mixture over the pecans (don't worry, they will rise to the top)and bake in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for approximately 50 min. or until the center is beginning to puff and has only a slight wiggle to it.
  • Step 4
    Cool completely before cutting.
