nostalgic apple pie
this recipe from Allrecipes.com in November 2007. I am married to a diabetic. He loves his sweets so I try to makes sure I have plenty of desserts on hand with no real sugar. His favorite is apple pie. I added the butter to the recipe.

Ingredients
- 7 cups baking apples, peeled and thin sliced
- 1 cup splenda no cal sweetner,granulated
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/8 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
- 1 - double crust pie shell
How To Make nostalgic apple pie

Step 1Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Place the sliced apples in a large mixing bowl and set aside. Combine the SPLENDA, spices and cornstarch in a small bowl. Distribute the sugar mixture over the apple slices and toss until well coated; set aside. Place the bottom (uncooked)crust into the pie tin, add the apple mixture. Dot with the butter/margarine (in small pieces), Place the top crust over the pie and seal edges; trim off excess dough. Cut steam slits into top crust. Bake 40-50 minutes, or until top crust is golden.
