nana's chocolate pie
I've been making this pie for a few years now. Don't remember where I got the original recipe, but after a little tweaking here & there, it's a good pie. We don't care for Meringue, so I never make it, but my friend Amy Jones does, so the pic with meringue is her pie using this recipe. Ok, I finally remembered where I got the recipe from, lol. Ingredients
- PIE
- 4 tablespoons cocoa
- 2 cups half and half
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 - egg yolks (reserve whites for meringue)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 - 9 in deep dish pie shell
- MERINGUE
- - reserved egg whites
- 3 tablespoons sugar
How To Make nana's chocolate pie

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake Pie Crust until golden brown.

Step 2Mix cocoa, half and half, sugar, egg yolks, and Vanilla. Bring to a boil.

Step 3Mix cornstarch with a little water and add to the boiling cocoa mixture. Cook until thickened. Por into pie shell.

Step 4FOR MERINGUE TOPPING Beat egg whites and the 3 tablespoons sugar until a stiff peak forms. Place on top of pie & bake until lightly browned.
