  • 1/2 c

  • 2 lg

How To Make mema rose's apple pie

  • 1
Melt the butter in a large saucepan. Continue to cook the butter until it is browned, a dark golden color and smells nutty, about 2 to 3 minutes, stirring often.
  • 2
Stir in cornstarch to form a paste. Stir in the water.
  • 3
Add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon, and bring to a low boil.
  • 4
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  • 5
Add the apples to the sugar mixture in the saucepan and cook on low heat for 5 minutes.
  • 6
Place the bottom crust in your pan. Par-bake for 4 minutes. Pour apple filling into crust. Cover with second pie crust. Crimp edges, and cut slits in top to vent. (I sprinkle a little sugar on top.)
  • 7
Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until apples are soft.
