This is a lower sugar version of a classic Apple Pie. It is best served either chilled or slightly warm so it won’t be runny. A scoop of Cinnamon Ice Cream makes the perfect a-la-mode.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter, cold & cut in peices
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 8 - 10 - apples, peeled & sliced
  • 2 - refrigerated pie crusts

How To Make lower sugar apple pie

  • Step 1
    Preheat the oven to 350°. Next prepare the pie plate by spraying with Bakers Pam, or grease & flour. Place the bottom pie crust in the plate and fit it well to the sides.
  • Step 2
    Peel, cut, & core the apples. In a large mixing bowl combine the apples, lemon juice, sugar, & cinnamon. Mix well to coat all apple slices.
  • Step 3
    Pour the apple mixture into the pie plate. Dot the filling with the butter pieces & place the top crust on the pie. Crimp the edges to seal well. Cut steam holes in the top crust.
  • Step 4
    Bake for 45 to 55 minutes until apples are soft and the crust is golden brown.
