I had this recipe for years but didn't try it until my mother asked me one day if I had Grandma's Pumpkin pie recipe. I made it for her that thanksgiving and it became one of my favorites.

Ingredients

  • 1 - 9-inch baked pie crust
  • 1 tablespoon knox gelatin, dissolved in 1/4 cup cool water
  • 3 - eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 cups pumpkin

How To Make grandma k's chiffon pumpkin pie

  • Step 1
    Combine 1/2 cup sugar, 3 egg yolks,milk, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg with 1-1/2 cups pumpkin in double boiler until thick. Remove from heat, add gelatin and stir well. Chill until it begins to thicken. Then beat egg whites frothy, add 1 cup sugar and beat until stiff. Fold into pumpkin mixture. Pour into pie shell and cool. Serve with whipped cream and sprinkle with a little nutmeg.
