yield 8 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 6 cups apples, cored, peeled and sliced - toss with a squeeze of lemon ( optional )
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • single - pie crust shell

How To Make german apple pie

  • Step 1
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Mix sugar, flour and cinnamon together in a medium bowl.
  • Step 2
Sprinkle 3 tbsp of sugar mixture into prepared pie crust.
  • Step 3
Top with 1/2 of the apples. Sprinkle with half of the remaining sugar mixture and top with remaining apples.
  • Step 4
Sprinkle remaining sugar mixture over apples and pour heavy cream evenly over apples and sugar.
  • Step 5
Bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes, reduce heat to 350 degrees and cook for an additional 55 to 60 minutes. Cool completely before serving. Note: I covered my crust with foil, until the last 15 minutes of baking. If you don't cover each apple with the cream, you may get a few pieces as I did, that shows the sugar mixture...its still just as delish!! Take my word for it...Yummo!!!!
