Ingredients

  • 4 cups apples, peeled and sliced
  • 3/4 cup sugar, white
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (additional)
  • 1/2 cup butter, unsalted

How To Make dutch apple pie

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 425F.
  • Step 2
    In a large bowl combine apples, white sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • Step 3
    Place 1 puff pastry shell into a pie tin, then pour apple mixture into the shell.
  • Step 4
    In another bowl blend flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and butter with your fingers to make coarse crumbs.
  • Step 5
    Sprinkle over apples evenly, reserving about 1/4 for later.
  • Step 6
    Cut remaining puff pastry shell into strips and weave over apples, pressing the ends into the pastry overlapping the edge of the tin.
  • Step 7
    Pinch the pastry decoratively, then sprinkle remaining sugar crumbs over the woven pastry strips.
  • Step 8
    Bake for 45 minutes, then remove from oven and let rest 10 minutes before serving.
