I have grown up in Louisville, home of the Derby & the famous pie. This is a version of that pie. A very rich dessert.

Ingredients

eggs, slightly beaten
1 tsp
vanilla extract
1/2 c
sugar
1/2 c
brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c
butter, melted
1 pinch
salt
1/4 c
cornstarch
1 c
chopped walnuts
1 c
chocolate chips
2 Tbsp
bourbon (optional)
1
unbaked pie shell

How to Make DREAMING OF KENTUCKY DERBY PIE

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2Combine eggs, vanilla extract, sugars, salt, melted butter, & bourbon (if using). Add cornstarch to the mixture, blending in slowly & thoroughly.
  • 3Stir in nuts & chocolate chips. Pour into an unbaked 9 in. pie shell.
  • 4Bake 45 mins. Middle may be slightly jiggly--this is okay. Take out of oven to cool on a wire rack.
