cranberry apple pie
Found this in a magazine when I was looking for something different with ingredients I had on hand. Wanted something other than pumpkin or a similar dessert for the holidays.

Ingredients
- 1 - double pie crust (1 top, 1 bottom) purchased, or your favorite crust recipe.
- 4 cups granny smith apples, cored and sliced and peeled (about 4)
- 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1/4 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon apple pie spice
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons butter
How To Make cranberry apple pie

Step 1Preheat oven to 425°F.

Step 2In a large bowl, combine sugar, cornstarch, orange juice, lemon juice, cinnamon, apple pie spice and nutmeg. Add apples and cranberries; toss gently.

Step 3Line a 9-in. pie plate with bottom pastry. Add filling; dot with butter. Roll the remaining pastry to fit top of pie. Cut vents in pastry, using a small apple cutter if desired. Place over filling; seal and flute the edges.

Step 4Bake at 425° F for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350° F; bake 50 minutes longer or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly. Let pie cool on wire cooling rack completely before serving to let pie set.

Step 5NOTE: No Apple pie spice?? Make your own by using 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg and 1/8 teaspoon cardamom to make 1 tsp of apple pie spice.
