Cranberry Apple Pie
1double pie crust (1 top, 1 bottom) purchased, or your favorite crust recipe.
4 cgranny smith apples, cored and sliced and peeled (about 4)
2 cfresh or frozen cranberries
1/4 corange juice
1/4 tsplemon juice
1/2 tspground cinnamon
1/2 tspapple pie spice
1/8 tspground nutmeg
How to Make Cranberry Apple Pie
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- In a large bowl, combine sugar, cornstarch, orange juice, lemon juice, cinnamon, apple pie spice and nutmeg. Add apples and cranberries; toss gently.
- Line a 9-in. pie plate with bottom pastry. Add filling; dot with butter. Roll the remaining pastry to fit top of pie. Cut vents in pastry, using a small apple cutter if desired. Place over filling; seal and flute the edges.
- Bake at 425° F for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350° F; bake 50 minutes longer or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly. Let pie cool on wire cooling rack completely before serving to let pie set.
- NOTE: No Apple pie spice?? Make your own by using 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg and 1/8 teaspoon cardamom to make 1 tsp of apple pie spice.
