This is a great breakfast treat. Try it on cinnamon biscuits. If you have left over gravy pour it into a pre-baked pie shell or graham crust, top with sweetened whipped cream and you have dessert!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon chocolate extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh grated cinnamon (optional)

How To Make chocolate gravy/pie

  • Step 1
    In a medium sauce pan mix flour, sugar, cocoa, cinnamon (optional), and salt. Gradually add milk. Cook on medium heat stirring constantly with a whisk until mixture comes to a boil. Boil 1 minute until thickened.
  • Step 2
    Remove from heat and add butter, chocolate extract, and vanilla . Stir until combined. Serve over biscuits, toast, pancakes, or waffles.
  • Step 3
    Left over gravy can be poured into a pie crust of your choice and refrigerated 2-3 hours until set for pie. Serve with sweetened whipped cream
