This is a great pie.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

Your chocolate-loving friends will be begging for another slice of this chocolate chess pie. It's a snap to prepare and so tasty, you'll have no problem making it on request. Chess pies are custard-like with a slightly jiggly center. This version is full of chocolate flavor, too. When serving, add a dollop of whipped cream or a dusting of cocoa for an impressive chocolate dessert.

How To Make chocolate chess pie

  • Sugar, eggs, butter, evaporated milk, vanilla extract, and cocoa in a bowl.
    Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl; beat 1 minute.
  • Ingredients poured into a pie crust.
    Step 2
    Pour into pie crust.
  • Chocolate Chess Pie baking in the oven.
    Step 3
Bake for 1 hour. Covering the edges of the pie with a pie shield or aluminum foil for half the baking time will prevent the crust from over-browning.
  • Chocolate Chess Pie slightly risen.

If the middle hasn't risen after an hour, cook the pie 5 to 10 minutes longer. Make sure the middle of the pie has risen so you know it has cooked completely.
  • Chocolate Chess Pie cooling.
