chocolate buttermilk pie
I found this recipe for Buttermilk Pie years ago in the newspaper. It’s easy and everyone loves it. I tinkered with it and added cocoa to make it chocolate. Even better! You can just omit the cocoa for plain buttermilk pie. Best chilled. Very custardy texture and always a hit.

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1/2 cup non-fat buttermilk
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 3 large eggs
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 9 inch - deep dish pie shell
How To Make chocolate buttermilk pie

Step 1Melt butter and add cocoa powder, stirring to dissolve powder.

Step 2Mix all ingredients in a mixing bowl until thoroughly incorporated.

Step 3Pour into 9 9-inch deep dish pie shell. Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes.

Step 4Pie is done when a toothpick in the middle comes out clean. This recipe is versatile. Omit cocoa for plain buttermilk pie, or omit cocoa and add 1 cup of shredded coconut for coconut buttermilk pie. Chill after baking. So easy and a star of Thanksgiving desserts for years.
