belgian sugar pies
This recipe makes 6 pies, so be ready to freeze some of them or share with family and friends. This was my grandma's recipe, who came to the USA in the late 1800's. She would fill her pie shell with various fruits, but my favorite was her brown sugar filling.

Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 6 - egg yolks (room temp)
- 1/2 pound butter (not margarine)
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 packages dry yeast
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
How To Make belgian sugar pies

Step 1Mix ingredients together. Don't knead.

Step 2Let rise.

Step 3When doubled, separate into 6 balls.

Step 4Place one ball in each of 6 pans.

Step 5Let rise again.

Step 6Shape in pie pans, using your hands.

Step 7Let set for a few minutes.

Step 8Fill and bake 325 degrees for 25 minutes.

Step 9(Keep an eye on them; if they start getting too brown, put foil around the edges.)

Step 10FILLING: Brown sugar. 2 beaten eggs. 1/2 c. milk.

Step 11Sprinkle brown sugar over pie bottom. Mix eggs and milk together and pour over sugar.

Step 12Dot with butter.

Step 13Bake 325 degrees for 25 minutes.
