Ingredients
- 1 baked 9 inch pie shell
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 to 2 bananas, sliced
- 3 egg whites
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 6 tablespoons sugar
How To Make banana cream pie

Step 1In a heat proof bowl whisk the egg yolks.

Step 2in saucepan add sugar, cornstarch, salt. Stir in milk.

Step 3Over med heat bring to boiling.

Step 4Boil one minute, stirring constantly.

Step 5Remove from heat and stir half into beaten egg yolks.

Step 6Pour back into sauce pan, and bring back to a boil, stirring constantly 1 minute more.

Step 7Stir in butter and vanilla.

Step 8Put a layer of banana then the pudding mixture.

Step 9Pour into a baked 9 inch pie shell.

Step 10Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Step 11In a bowl add egg whites, and cream of tartar, whip until stiff peaks form and add the sugar a little at a time.

Step 12Cover pudding mixture making nice peaks and bake until the top is beautifully browned.
