Ingredients
- 6 medium apples, golden delicious or granny smith, sliced
- 3/4 cup whitesugar
- 1/2 cup browm sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- PIE CRUST FOR DOUBLE CRUST PIE
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cups butter flavor shortening
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 4 tablespoons ice cold water
How To Make award winning apple pie

Step 1Put apples in a large bowl. Combine remaining ingredients and pour over apples. Toss gently to coat well. Put in a 9" pie crust, dot with butter, adjust top crust and bake at 450 for 15 minutes and then 350 for 45 minutes.

Step 2For pie crust; Mix together flour, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl. Cut in shortening. Add vinegar and egg, then add water. Mix to form a dough ball, separate into two balls, roll out on floured surface.
