Here's another Spring pie by Grandma, Rhubarb was abundant at grandmas in the spring and pie was everyone's favorite. Happy Spring!

Ingredients

pastry for a 2 crust pie
1 1/3 c
sugar
1/3 c
flour
1/2 tsp
grated orange zest
1/8 tsp
salt
4 c
(1/2" pieces) rhubarb pink if you can get it
2 Tbsp
butter

How to Make Another Spring Pie By Grandma

Step-by-Step

  • 1Combine sugar, flour orange zest, and salt. Add to pink rhubarb.
  • 2Place in pastry lined pie pan dot with butter.
  • 3Adjust top crust and flute edges, cut vents.
  • 4Bake in 425 degrees oven for 40-50 minutes or until juice begins to bubble through vents and crust is golden brown. Partially cool before serving.
  • 5Note if rhubarb is not pink add a few drops of red food coloring to filling. The amount of sugar depends on the tartness of the rhubarb from 1 1/3 cups to 2 cup depending on how tart you like it.
  • 6This pie can also be made with a lattice top.
