This is an old 50's recipe and they are easy to make and have a wonderful soft but chewy texture.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 c
    margarine
  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 1
    egg (beaten)
  • 1/4 c
    milk
  • 1 c
    cake flour or 1 cup all purpose flour with 1 tablespoon flour removed
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp
    cloves
  • 1/4 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/2 c
    raisins

How to Make Spiced Raisin Squares

Step-by-Step

  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees.
    Cream the margarine. Beat in brown sugar, add the egg and milk.

    Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. add to the margarine mixture. Stir in raisins.

    Pour batter into a greased 9" square pan. bake in a preheated oven for 25 minutes.

    Cut into bars.
