This is an old 50's recipe and they are easy to make and have a wonderful soft but chewy texture.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 - egg (beaten)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup cake flour or 1 cup all purpose flour with 1 tablespoon flour removed
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup raisins

How To Make spiced raisin squares

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 375 degrees. Cream the margarine. Beat in brown sugar, add the egg and milk. Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. add to the margarine mixture. Stir in raisins. Pour batter into a greased 9" square pan. bake in a preheated oven for 25 minutes. Cut into bars.
