These waffles are so much fun for the entire family or for a brunch or pot luck!

They can be made ahead and frozen too! Just thaw them and heat on baking sheets in the oven or take a few out at a time and pop in the toaster!

The children love these... and they can be used as a meal or a dessert.

How to Make Rainbow & Tied Dyed Waffles

Step-by-Step

  1. In a large bowl: Mix together dry ingredients.

In a smaller bowl: Mix together the wet ingredients and beat well.

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.
  2. Divide batter into 6 bowl (more if you want more colors...

To each bowl put in food coloring along with the batter... stir well to mix in the colors.

    Purple
  3. Blue
  4. Green
  5. Yellow
  6. Orange
  7. Red
  8. Heat up waffle iron. (This time I used the heart shaped one for added fun!).
  9. Spoon in enough batter to cover the waffle area of the waffle iron.

Each waffle iron varies on temperature and cooking time.. (The heart shape iron I used cooked them fast... only 1-2 minutes).

When waffles are done, remove them from the iron.
  10. Repeat this process until all of your solid waffles are done.
  11. Use the remaining batter to make the tie dyed waffles. Put a little of each color of batter into the waffle iron and cook as you did the solid color ones. (Work Fast! As they cook fast and you are using all the colors of batter, which takes extra time).
  12. These can be served with fruit and whipped cream, or with jams and jellies, or with syrup...

They can also be made into breakfast sandwiches!
  13. These are easy and fun! The kids will smile big!
