These bars are delicious and nutritious. Healthy and hearty enough for breakfast, they're also great after dinner with a glass of almond milk!

  • 2 c
    uncooked quick-cooking oatmeal
  • 2 c
    unbleached, all purpose flour
  • 1 1/3 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 c
    applesauce, unsweetened
  • 6 Tbsp
    canola oil
  • 2 c
    apple butter
  • 6 Tbsp
    almonds, slivered

How to Make Oaty Apple Almond Bars


  1. Preheat oven to 325 and grease a 9x13 baking dish
  2. Mix oatmeal, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and baking soda. Make a well in the center for the wet ingredients.
  3. Add the applesauce and the oil into the well in the dry ingredients. Stir together, then mix in the dry ingredients.
  4. Press HALF the mixture into the bottom of the greased dish. Spread the apple butter over the oatmeal layer. Sprinkle the sliced almonds on top. Finish by sprinkling the remaining oat mixture on top.
  5. Bake until golden brown, about 30 minutes. Let cool before cutting into approx. 30 bars.
