My Mom made these every Christmas for her cookie trays. They make nice fill-ins for the tray and since they are powdered sugar coated the whites looks nice.
Taste good also.

Can be made ahead and frozen until ready to use.

margarine--melted---(not lite)
1/4 c
white sugar
1 pinch
baking powder
2 c
1 c
coarsley chopped walnuts
1 c
powdered sugar

How to Make Mom's Walnut Balls


  • 1Mix 1st 3 ingredients.
    Stir in flour & walnuts.
    (if to soft to handle,chill several hours)
  • 2Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
    Roll heaping teaspoon of dough into 1" balls.
    Place on ungreased baking sheets.Bake 50-60 minutes until lightly browned.
  • 3Cool on wire racks 30 minutes.
    GENTLY shake about 4 balls in a paper bag with Confectioners sugar.
    Cool about 30 minutes and repeat shaking process.
  • 4Store in an air tight container, in freezer until ready to use.
