Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/8 teaspoon Fleur de Sel
  • 2 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
  • 1/2 cup maple sugar, sifted
  • 9 to 10 tablespoons good quality maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (substitute with pure maple extract)

How To Make maple syrup frosting

  • Step 1
    In the bowl of a stand mixer with the paddle attachment on, add butter and salt. Whip on high for 4 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Working in batches, add 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar and 2 Tbsp maple sugar.
  • Step 3
    Process on medium-low until blended, cleaning the sides and the bottom of the bowl as needed. Repeat with the same amounts.
  • Step 4
    When the mixture is getting very dry, add half maple syrup and process until the texture is smooth.
  • Step 5
    Add the remaining confectioners' sugar, maple sugar, and maple syrup; add pure vanilla extract. Process once again until smooth, cleaning the sides and the bottom of the bowl.
