Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 - large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 - grated rind of lemon
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- LEMON GLAZE:
- 1 cup sifted powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
How To Make lemon tea bread

Step 1Beat shortening at medium speed with an electric mixer until fluffy; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs, one at a time; beating after each addition.

Step 2Combine flour, baking powder, & salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning & ending with flour mixture. Stir in lemon rind & pecans.

Step 3Pour batter into a greased & floured 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan.

Step 4Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 55 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. It may take a shorter time--depends on your oven. Cool on wire rack 10 to 15 minutes; remove from pan, & let cool completely on a wire rack.

Step 5LEMON GLAZE: Combine both ingredients, stirring until smooth. Drizzle over cooled bread.
