dad's mincemeat

This is the gang that I would love to share this with. I would hesitate to share this with any one but this group of cooks. My Dad when I made this said it was just like his mom made. You will need pint canning jars and some kind of large pot to do a water bath on these.

Ingredients
- 5 1/2 pounds (1/2 peck) green tomatoes
- 1 pound chopped tart apples
- 1/2 cup citron, ground
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- 1/2 cup ground suet ask the butcher for this
- 2 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 1 teaspoon whole cloves, cracked
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 pound dark seedless raisins
How To Make dad's mincemeat

Step 1Wash tomatoes, cut into chunks, chop fine.

Step 2Put all other ingredients in pot except raisins. Put spices in a bag.

Step 3Cook on low heat for 1 hour, stirring frequently, add raisins, cook until thick.

Step 4Remove spice bag, fill jars, and put into hot water bath for 25 minutes.
