From an old Betty Crocker Book, been using this recipe for 30 years. In the book it is listed under quick breads. I use a little bit more orange rind. you can omit the walnuts.
I double the recipe and doubled makes 2 loafs.

2 c
all purpose flour
3/4 c
1 1/2 tsp
baking powder
1 tsp
1/2 tsp
baking soda
egg beaten
1 tsp
grated orange peal ( i use navel, & use more than calls for)
3/4 c
orange juice, i use juice from the orange & add tropacana orange juice to make up the rest needed)
2 Tbsp
veggie. oil
1 c
chopped cranberries (i use a little bit more, like a heaping cup)
1/2 c
cup chopped walnuts (optional)

How to Make Cranberry Orange Bread (with chopped walnuts)


  • 1350 oven, Grease loaf pan. ( I use Crisco) no need to flour the pan
  • 2In medium bowl
    Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt
  • 3In medium bowl
    Combine egg, grated orange peel,orange juice, and veggie oil.
  • 4Add step 3's ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened.
  • 5Fold in cranberries and walnuts.
  • 6Put batter in loaf pan 9x5x3 inch bake in 350 oven for about 60 minutes or until done.
    Remove from pan; cool. Wrap; store overnight.

    I double the batch and freeze 1 for the holidays
