cherie d's cheesecake

In my "younger" years, when everyone cooked (!) it was common to share recipes. A friend of mine whose husband was in the service, shared this recipe. My husband counts this as one of his favorite cheesecakes and very colorful too

yield Lots depending on the size of your cuts. At least 16 slices

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups fine graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • FILLING
  • 2 - 8oz packages cream cheese
  • 3 - eggs, well beaten
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 3 cups sour cream
  • TOPPING
  • 1 can cherry pie filling

How To Make cherie d's cheesecake

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 375 degrees. CRUST: In bowl combine the graham cracker crumbs, chopped walnuts cinnamon, and melted margarine. Put aside 3 tbsp of the crumb mix and press remaining mix into 10" springform pan (can also do it on sides if you prefer). Chill while preparing filling
  • Step 2
    FILLING; Beat cream cheese until smooth then combine all the remaining ingredients except sour cream. Beat until smooth. Blend in sour cream. Pour into prepared crust. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes. Chill 4-5 hours
  • Step 3
    Pour 1 can Cherry Pie Filling on top and sprinkle with reserved crumbs. Refrigerate until serving.
