Ingredients For bananas foster

  • 1 lg
    banana
  • 1 oz
    dark rum such as gosling
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter
  • 3 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 1/4 c
    freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/4 tsp
    orange zest
  • 2 scoop
vanilla ice cream, or as needed

How To Make bananas foster

  • 1
Cut banana in half, remove the peel and discard it. Cut it in half lengthwise and set aside.
  • 2
In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, add rum and keep it warm until ready to use – don’t let it simmer!
  • 3
In a medium skillet over medium heat, add butter and when it’s melted, add brown sugar and freshly squeezed orange juice. Stir until the ingredients are well blended and bring to a simmer.
  • 4
When the mixture is simmering, add the banana pieces cut side down and let them sit, undisturbed, for a minute before spooning the sauce over; cook for 2 minutes.
  • 5
Carefully flip them over and add orange zest; cook for another 2 minutes.
  • 6
Take the saucepan and ignite the rum. Then pour it over the banana pieces – let the flame subside.
  • 7
Serve it immediately with a nice big scoop of vanilla ice cream and pour the delicious sauce over.
