This is an oldie from my Mother-In-Law's recipe box. She used to make this quite often many years ago. I love anything with apple, so I'm so happy she shared this with me!

  • 2 c
    chopped apples (i like mcintosh)
  • 1 c
  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • 1/2 c
    butter, melted
  • 1 c
    sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    nuts, chopped (i like walnuts)

How to Make Apple Spice Squares


  1. Peel, core, and chop apples.
    Add sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.
    Add egg and mix well.
  2. Add butter, flour, and baking powder.
    Mix until absorbed.
  3. Pour into an 8 x 8 pan.
    Mix brown sugar and nuts together, then sprinkle on top.

    Bake at 375 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes.
  4. Cool and cut into squares.
