apple spice squares
This is an oldie from my Mother-In-Law's recipe box. She used to make this quite often many years ago. I love anything with apple, so I'm so happy she shared this with me!

Ingredients
- 2 cups chopped apples (I like Mcintosh)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 - egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 1/4 cups sifted flour
- 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup nuts, chopped (I like walnuts)
How To Make apple spice squares

Step 1Peel, core, and chop apples. Add sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add egg and mix well.

Step 2Add butter, flour, and baking powder. Mix until absorbed.

Step 3Pour into an 8 x 8 pan. Mix brown sugar and nuts together, then sprinkle on top. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes.

Step 4Cool and cut into squares.
