barbara's fruit soup

This was taught to me years ago and I love it! Every time I open a jar I find a new way to serve it. This fruity "soup" is almost like eating a pie filling with different kinds of fruit. You can serve hot or cold, with granola, oatmeal or on toast, ice cream, pound cake or even in place of Jelly for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups dried mixed fruit
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/2 - lemon, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon tapioca
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1/2 to 2/3 cups)sugar or splenda
  • 1 stick cinnamon

How To Make barbara's fruit soup

  • Step 1
    Mix together fruit, water, sliced lemon, tapioca, salt, sugar and cinnamon stick. Cook on low to medium low for 30-40 minutes stirring occasionally.
  • Step 2
    Let cool and can be served immediately, or (can) with the cinnamon stick and lemon slices in the jar. Just make sure to remove the cinnamon stick right before serving.
