My kids have always loved this, and they still ask for it. Simple to make, and I often do it when I need another side dish and don't know what else to make.

prep time 10 Min
cook time 20 Min
method Stove Top
yield 4 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 3-4 large gala apples
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons sorghum

How To Make susan's fried apples

  • Step 1
Core the apples but don't peel. Slice them into wedges, then cut each wedge into several thin slices. Mix together the brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
  • Step 2
Melt the butter over medium heat in a large skillet. Add apples, and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes. Stir in the brown sugar, salt, cinnamon mixture. Continue to cook and stir until apples are very soft.
  • Step 3
Just before serving, drizzle on the sorghum and give it a quick stir.
  • Step 4
These are great served with oatmeal for breakfast, or over vanilla ice cream for dessert. They also make a great side dish to a meal, which is how I normally serve them.
