Susan's Fried Apples

Susan Feliciano

My kids have always loved this, and they still ask for it. Simple to make, and I often do it when I need another side dish and don't know what else to make.

  • 3-4 large
    gala apples
  • 1/4 c
  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1 tsp
  • 2 Tbsp

How to Make Susan's Fried Apples

  1. Core the apples but don't peel. Slice them into wedges, then cut each wedge into several thin slices. Mix together the brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
  2. Melt the butter over medium heat in a large skillet. Add apples, and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes. Stir in the brown sugar, salt, cinnamon mixture. Continue to cook and stir until apples are very soft.
  3. Just before serving, drizzle on the sorghum and give it a quick stir.
  4. These are great served with oatmeal for breakfast, or over vanilla ice cream for dessert. They also make a great side dish to a meal, which is how I normally serve them.
