This is a desert my mom would make and take to everything from church dinners to family reunions. It's easy and just a nice summer time dessert to have on hand when company comes. She would always have to have one made when her sister's would come to KY. My mom has been gone for 16 years now, but I still think of her everyday.
1Slice (or tear into pieces)and layer the angel food cake into cake pan. This will be your first layer.
2Beat cool whip and cream cheese together and add vanilla; add confectioner's sugar until it's spreadable.
3Spread on layer of angel food cake; add another layer of cake and more cream cheese mixture, continue layering until you end up with cream cheese last.
4Spread strawberry pie filling over top. You can use any flavor pie filling. My mom used cherry. You can even add strawberries on top, if you want to. or even use pineapple, bananas, add nuts. Just use your imagination.
