Harlan Hackett's wife, Johnsie, submitted this to an old NC cookbook years ago. It is my go to recipe for a comforting dessert.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup self-rising flour
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla

How To Make quick peach cobbler

  • Step 1
    In a deep 9 x 13" dish, melt butter in the oven at 350 degrees.
  • Step 2
    In a small bowl, mix peaches and 1/2 cup sugar together. Set aside.
  • Step 3
    Mix 3/4 cup sugar, flour, milk and vanilla. Spoon over butter, but do not stir.
  • Step 4
    Spoon peach/sugar mixture from step 2 over step 3. Do not stir.
  • Step 5
    Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
