Try it! I think you will really like the crispness of this shortcake! I've known of no one outside my family using this recipe.

Ingredients

1 quart fresh strawberries washed and diced
1/3 cup sugar
2 - prepared pastry circles, or make your own
1/2 pint whipping cream

How To Make mother's strawberry shortcake

Step 1

Add sugar to diced berries 30 minutes before serving. This allows the berries to make juice.

Step 2

Cut the pastry circles into 1" wide strips and bake on a cookie sheet until golden brown. Set aside.
Step 3

Whip the cream and refrigerate.
Step 4
