This was a treat my mom would always make for the 4th of July! It was one of her favorite summer time desserts! I will be keeping up this holiday tradition!

Ingredients

GRAHAM CRACKER CRUST

2 c
graham cracker crumbs
1/2 c
melted butter

FILLING

2 c
powdered sugar
1/2 c
softened butter
1
egg
1 tsp
vanilla

TOPPINGS

4
bananas, sliced
2
(10 ounce) frozen strawberries, or you can use fresh (sliced)
20 ounce can(s)
crushed pineapple, drained
2 c
whipped cream, (or cool whip if you prefer)
maraschino cherries
chopped nuts

How to Make Mom's Banana Split Dessert

Step-by-Step

  • 1Prepare the graham cracker crust, by pouring melted butter over cracker crumbs.

    Mix and press into a 9 x 13 glass dish.
    Chill while preparing filling.
  • 2Prepare filling.
    Beat together powdered sugar, butter, egg and vanilla, until light and fluffy. Beating for about 5 minutes.
  • 3Spread filling over cracker crumb crust.
  • 4Now layer the banana slices over the powdered sugar mixture.
    Next layer the strawberries on top of the bananas.
    Then the drained pineapple, on top of the strawberries.
  • 5Top with whipping cream, and garnish maraschino cherries and chopped nuts.
  • 6Refrigerate for 6 hours before serving.
