How To Make caramel apple dumplings by rr

  • Step 1
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar and salt; cut in the shortening until crumbly. In a small bowl combine 1 egg, water and vinegar, gradually add to crumb mixture, tossing with fork until dough froms. Divide into seven portions.
  • Step 2
On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion into a 7 inch square. Place an apple on each pastry square, place 1 tablespoon butter in center of each. Combine cinnamon and remaining sugar and sprinkle over each apple. Bring up corners of pastry to center and pinch edges to seal. Beat remaining egg and brush over pastry. Place in a greased 13x9 baking dish or more whatever is good for you. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes. Next step follows while in the oven.
  • Step 3
Meanwhile, in a large saucepan combine sauce ingredients, bring to a boil, cook and stir until smooth and blended. Pour over apples and bake 40 minutes longer or until apples are tender and pastry is golden basting occasionally with sauce. Enjoy warm or with ice cream, my husband loves plain also.
