4 mdcooking apples, peeled and sliced

1 cwater

1/2 cfirmly packed brown sugar

1 Tbsplemon juice

1/4 tspground cinnamon

2 tspcornstarch

1 Tbspcold water

1/2 cbuttermilk

1/4 csugar

1/4 cmolasses

2 Tbspvegetable oil

1 lgegg

1 call-purpose flour

1/2 tspbaking soda

1/2 tspbaking powder
-
1/4 tspsalt
-
1/2 tspground ginger
-
1/4 tspground nutmeg
How To Make apple-gingerbread cobbler

1Combine the first 5 ingredients in a medium saucepan; stir well. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes or until the apple is tender.

2Combine the cornstarch and 1 tablespoon water; add to the apple mixture, stirring well. Pour into a lightly greased 2-quart baking dish.

3Combine the buttermilk, 1/4 cup sugar, molasses, oil, and egg in a small mixing bowl; beat at medium speed of an electric mixer until smooth.

4Combine the flour and the remaining ingredients; stir well. Add to the buttermilk mixture, beating until blended. Pour the batter over the apple mixture.

5Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve warm.
