southern sweet potato pie
Mmmm, I just took one of these out of the oven and it smells divine. I'm having it tomorrow for Thanksgiving. Always a hit!

Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked sweet potatoes
- 1-1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 - stick butter, melted
- 2 - eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 - well rounded tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup milk
- - prepared pie crust
How To Make southern sweet potato pie

Step 1Preheat oven to 350. Combine the potatoes, sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla, salt, and spices. Mix thoroughly. Add the milk and continue to mix. Pour the filling into a pie crust and bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Baking time may vary based on your oven. Place the pie on a rack and cool.

Step 3NOTE: I would NOT use canned yams for this recipe. I would bake sweet potatoes and mash them.
