My mother was a topnotch baker. This recipe is from her typed notes from many years ago. I have used it for years with always excellent results.

Ingredients For mother's magic pie crust (sallye)

3 cflour
-
1 cshortening
-
1 tspsalt
-
1 lgegg
-
1 tspvinegar

cold water as needed
How To Make mother's magic pie crust (sallye)

1Sift flour into bowl, cut in shortening with pastry blender or 2 knives.

2Place egg and vinegar in a 2 cup measuring cup. Add cold water to fill to half cup level. Whisk together until well blended.

3Add egg mixture to flour and mix well until dough forms a ball. ( use my hands to mix) If too dry, add more cold water a few drops at a time. This crust is always light and flaky.
