A friend found this in a magazine and I just had to have it once I tried it. Just as good, if not better than the real thing

prep time 40 Min
cook time
method No-Cook or Other
yield 15-20 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups icing sugar
  • 1 bag chocolate chips (12 oz)
  • - yellow food colouring

How To Make homemade (cadbury) creme eggs

  • Step 1
Cream together: 1/2 cup corn syrup, 1/4 cup butter (at room temp.) and 1 tsp vanilla; add 3 cups icing sugar and beat until incorporated.
  • Step 2
Remove roughly 1/3 mixture into separate bowl; add yellow food colouring (to desired hue). - (obviously this is only if you want it to actually look like an egg)
  • Step 3
Put the 2 bowls in fridge to "firm up" ; remove yellow mixture from fridge, form into "yolk" balls on parchment paper and place back in fridge (or freezer). Once set up, scoop some white filling and flatten into circle; place yellow ball in centre and wrap around. Place back in fridge.
  • Step 4
Meanwhile, melt 1 (12oz) bag chocolate chips in short bursts in microwave (or melt in pot on stove, totally your call). Using a fork, toothpick or skewer *(or spoon, that's what I ended up doing), dip filling into melted chocolate and freeze. Repeat as often as you'd like for desired chocolatey thickness.
