Make it the night before and it's ready in the morning. I got sick of paying the store what I could make myself, so much cheaper AND better!!! My family likes it much better than store bought!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup yogurt, plain
  • 1/2 gallon milk , whole, 2% or skimmed (i prefer whole)

How To Make home made yogurt

  • Step 1
    Bring 1/2 gallon milk to a boil, stirring steadily. Aprox 195 degrees. Boil 2 minutes while stirring
  • Step 2
    Remove from heat and cover with a CLEAN, lint free cloth allow to cool to 110-115
  • Step 3
    Gradually whisk plain yogurt into milk Pour into thermos jugs, or crockpot (on warm, no warmer than 120 degrees) Allow to stand for 6-8 hours
  • Step 4
    Pour into quart jars, plastic containers,clean peanut butter jars. Cap, refrigerate. Reserve 1 cup for next batch. Stays good for 7-10 days
  • Step 5
    Before serving add sweetener to taste and one of the following if desired. vanilla, cut up strawberries, blue berries, sweet cherries, coconut, almonds, and mini choc chips, granola, raspberries, bananas, apple sauce and cinnamon, cinnamon, vanilla and brown sugar,or mini M&M's
