Quick and easy dessert in the winter when fresh berries are scarce or expensive. You can adjust the sweetness to your taste. You could make double the amount of topping and keep the extra in the freezer for an even quicker preparation in the future.

Ingredients

  • FRUIT ON THE BOTTOM
  • 4 cups frozen mixed berries
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • TOPPING
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup oats, regular
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • - cream or ice cream

How To Make elaine's berry crisp with frozen fruit

  • Step 1
    Butter an 8 or 9 inch baking dish.
  • Step 2
    Put frozen fruit in a large bowl, sprinkle flour and sugar over the fruit and mix it in. Allow to sit for about 10 minutes. Then put in the bottom of the baking pan.
  • Step 3
    In another bowl mix the remaining dry ingredients and cut in butter (or use your fingers to blend). Stir in nuts. Sprinkle the topping over the fruit.
  • Step 4
    Bake in a 370 degree F. oven for 45 minutes or until bubbly. Remove from oven and allow to cool for about 20 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Serve topped with cream or ice cream if desired.
