Ingredients

1 20-oz can sliced apples
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup whole wheat bread crumbs - about 3 or 4 slices- lighty toasted and crumbled
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup orange juice

How to Make Apple Raisin Brown Betty

Step-by-Step

  • 1Combine apples, raisins, and 1/4 cup of the brown sugar in a casserole dish. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • 2Combine the remaining 1/4 cup brown sugar with butter and bread crumbs. Working with fork or pastry blender, combine until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle over apples in dish and drizzle with orange juice.
  • 3Bake in a 375 degrees oven for about 30 minutes. Serve warm or cold.
