tropical oatmeal cookies
Everyone seems to love oatmeal cookies. We are fond of them so I decided to add some new flavors for a variety of tastes in the cookie. We really enjoyed them.

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 - eggs
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 3 cups quaker oats
- 1/2 cup chopped dates
- 1/2 cup coconut
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries
- - glaze (optional)
How To Make tropical oatmeal cookies

Step 1Heat oven to 350 degrees. Beat together butter and sugars until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt; add to egg mixture and mix well. Stir in oats, dates, coconut, pecans, and dried cranberries. Mix well with spoon.

Step 2Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool 1 minutes on cookie sheet; remove to wire rack. Yield: Approximately 4 dozen.

Step 3Glaze: Mix together 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, 1 to 2 tablespoons of milk (add more if needed for drizzling consistency), 1/2 tsp. of vanilla. Drizzle on top of cookies.
